Quote :
"The sun rose over a jagged skyline, struggling to illuminate the polluted air suspended in almost a solid layer over the super-metropolis. The populations do not wake right now, for the city never rests. On all its tiers, there is never peace – deals must be made, news must be passed on, change must be had, continually. And so the city of New Elurea does not wake this dawn; she does not begin a new day; New Elurea continues to exist, the parasites and lowlifes on her back regard the new day with dread to go about their business in a nauseating state of humidity. At least the days were short."

New Elurea is the main setting on Planet Jinx, one of the first extra-terrestrial human colonies. Even though the fact remained that Earth had almost been completely destroyed, the new populations hadn't grown too much kinder towards the state of nature. Two main continents cover this planet - half is urbanized, residential and military, with the one major super-city sprawling over most of one. The other continent is used primarily for vacationers, farming, conservation et cetera.

Population: Mostly humans; the giant city does draw crowds of other species, after all, the possibilities are endless.

Basic history notes: There is a huge part of the city completely absent of life (or so it seems). The story about this particular area is unclear; the public masses are encouraged to first of all stay away from that sector for their 'own safety' and second of all only given vague stories as to why that part of the city has been abandoned.

Vague rumours do circulate concerning military and government human experimentation gone bad...

Climate: There is a relatively large ocean-to-land ratio, and its proximity to it's sun (Helios II) renders it a very warm planet altogether - usually very humid in areas not controlled by climate technology.

South of most of the urbanization is a barren desert. Vague rumours circulate that many rebel encampments are stationed out there, along with possible experimentation camps.

Feel free to discuss aspects of this planet below (this will obviously be an OOC post). [As with all of the planets, the setting and history is open to development and discussion in the Planet & Setting Discussion forum, should this topic close, freeze or derail.]
